Purpose:
To provide the student an overall education that is suitable for ministry preparation. This degree will acquaint the student with New and Old Testament studies as well as familiarize the student with Philosophy, Ethics, Evangelism, Pastoral Studies and Biblical Preaching along with opportunities for the student to select electives.

Degree Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree from an approved school, plus 90/hrs. (Eighteen five-hour courses constitute the Ninety hours). Curriculum:
Eighteen of the following books may be chosen. Your books may be ordered at one time, however, students are encouraged to take one course at a time. Each book constitutes five hours of credit or one course. The student may suggest up to four alternate textbooks to be approved by a faculty advisor.

Please select a variety of 18 texts to be read. Please include at least one philosophy, one ethics, one evangelism and one preaching text.  You may also select four texts from the Elective page of this website or four electives from either of the other degree programs. The other texts should be from Old and New Testament reading.

You may alternate up to four additional texts by sending your alternate text request to

NT 680 - Linguistics for Students of New Testament Greek: A Survey of Basic Concepts and Applications, by David Alan

NT 685 -  Two texts required  (1) Mastering New Testament Greek on CD-ROM: An Interactive Guide for Beginners by Ted Hildebrandt (CD-ROM - Beginning Oct. 1 this course will replace NT 680. 

(2) New Testament Greek Workbook: An Inductive Study of the Complete Text of the Gospel of John by James Arthur Walther This course is completed when the student completes the workbook and submits the first five chapters of John translated from New Testament Greek. The student will simply write out each verse with the
translation underneath the verse. Mail assignment to NTS, P.O. Box 1238, Newburgh, IN 47629.

All papers should be typed and double-spaced and carefully checked for grammar and spelling before submitting.. For each book write a ten to fifteen  page paper summarizing the book including the following:

  • Include up to ten truths learned from the book.
  • How is this book beneficial to your future ministry?
  • In your opinion, what is the most important element of this book?
  • How will this study better equip you to do God's work?
